Lake District - 18th-20th November 2011
Submitted by Kerstin on Tue, 22/11/2011 - 14:09On Friday, 18th November, three minibuses filled with 36 Wayfarers set off to the Lake District. After the traditional stop in Sandbach for Fish and Chips, we all arrived at a great barn in Rydal with enough time left to relax with some whiskey and to decide on walks for the next day.
On Saturday, we split into 4 groups; two of them went up Helvelyn, one did the Fairfield Horseshoe and the last group ventured up Scafell Pike. Besides a whole day of being surrounded by mist, everyone enjoyed the walks and even the little adventure of coming down in the dark added to the experience. The evening was spent with card games, some beers or a visit to the local pub.
Sunday, most of us took it a little slower and groups went up High Street, into the Langdale or up Red Screes. However, one group still felt energetic and tackled in a rather extensive fashion Scafell Pike. Once all the sheep were back in the flock we went back to Birmingham and some enjoyed a post trip curry in the Khanum.
